Active Shooter Training

Active Shooter
Response Training

Scenario-based training built and led by combat veterans. Our Green Beret-led program goes beyond Run-Hide-Fight to give your team the skills and confidence to respond when seconds determine outcomes.

Training Built by Those Who Have Faced Real Threats

Active shooter incidents have increased steadily across the United States over the past two decades. Schools, offices, houses of worship, healthcare facilities, and retail spaces have all been targeted. The FBI reports that these incidents are happening more frequently, in more diverse locations, and often conclude before law enforcement can arrive on scene. That means the people inside the building during the critical first minutes of an incident are the ones who determine how many lives are saved.

At Safe 4 USA Security, our active shooter training program is not a PowerPoint presentation delivered by someone who read a manual. It is a hands-on, scenario-based training program designed and led by combat veterans who have operated under fire and made life-or-death decisions in real-world engagements. We teach your people how to recognize a threat developing, how to respond decisively, and how to provide immediate medical care to the injured before paramedics arrive.

What Our Training Covers

  • Threat recognition and pre-attack indicators
  • Advanced Run-Hide-Fight response techniques
  • Tactical medical care (TCCC) for mass casualty events
  • Facility-specific scenarios using your actual floor plan

Led by a US Army Green Beret

Kenny Robertson leads our active shooter training program. Kenny served as a US Army Green Beret with combat deployment experience. He is a certified TCCC (Tactical Combat Casualty Care) instructor and NAEMT certified, meaning he has both the tactical combat background and the formal medical training qualifications to teach civilian organizations how to respond to mass casualty events. His training programs are built on the same principles used to prepare military personnel for combat - but adapted for the reality that your "responders" are teachers, office workers, nurses, and retail employees.

Kenny's approach is practical and direct. He does not lecture about theory for hours before getting to the actionable content. His training sessions put participants into realistic scenarios from the start, building muscle memory and decision-making instincts that work under the stress and confusion of an actual incident. Participants leave knowing not just what to do, but having practiced doing it under pressure.

Beyond Run-Hide-Fight

The standard Run-Hide-Fight framework is a reasonable starting point for active shooter awareness. Our program covers it thoroughly. But it is not enough. Real incidents are chaotic. Doors do not always lock. Exits are sometimes blocked. People freeze. Communication systems fail. Injured people need immediate care that will not arrive for minutes. Our training addresses these realities.

We teach participants how to barricade effectively when "hiding" means more than crouching behind a desk. We train on improvised defensive measures when evacuation routes are compromised. We cover communication protocols so that accurate information reaches 911 and building management as quickly as possible. And critically, we include a tactical medical component that gives every participant the ability to apply a tourniquet, pack a wound, and keep an injured person alive until professional medical care arrives.

Tactical Medical Training (TCCC)

The tactical medical component of our program is based on Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) protocols, the same medical training used by US military special operations forces in combat. This is not standard first aid. TCCC was developed specifically for situations where people are injured by gunfire, explosions, or other high-violence events and where traditional EMS cannot immediately access the scene.

Participants learn tourniquet application for extremity hemorrhage, wound packing for non-extremity bleeding, chest seal application for penetrating chest trauma, and casualty assessment prioritization when multiple people are injured. Kenny Robertson's TCCC and NAEMT certifications ensure the medical training meets the same standards used to train military medics and tactical law enforcement officers. For school staff, office employees, and organizational leaders, this training can mean the difference between waiting helplessly for paramedics and actively saving lives.

Customized to Your Facility

The most effective active shooter training happens in the actual facility where participants work. We conduct a pre-training assessment of your building, identifying specific vulnerabilities, natural safe havens, chokepoints, and evacuation routes. Then we design training scenarios that use your actual floor plan, your hallways, your offices, and your classrooms. When participants train in the space where they actually spend their day, the response becomes instinctive rather than theoretical. They know exactly which door to barricade, which route to take, and where the medical supplies are located.

We customize programs for schools and K-12 institutions, corporate offices and business campuses, religious institutions and houses of worship, healthcare facilities and hospitals, retail and hospitality venues, and government and public buildings. Each audience gets a program tailored to their specific environment, risk profile, and the capabilities of their staff.

Ongoing Readiness

A single training session builds awareness. Ongoing training builds readiness. We recommend annual comprehensive training sessions supplemented by shorter quarterly refreshers. We also offer tabletop exercises for leadership teams and rapid response drills that test your organization's protocols with minimal disruption to daily operations. For organizations that work with our security guard services, we integrate the training with your on-site security team's response plan.

Safe 4 USA Security operates under FL Class B Agency License B1900246. Our training programs comply with Florida's school safety requirements under the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act and are designed to help organizations meet OSHA workplace safety obligations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who should attend active shooter training?

Active shooter training is designed for anyone who works in or is responsible for a facility where people gather. This includes school teachers and administrators, office employees, religious institution staff, healthcare workers, retail employees, security personnel, and building management teams. OSHA recommends active shooter preparedness as part of workplace violence prevention plans.

How long is the training program?

Programs range from 2-hour awareness sessions to full-day immersive courses. Standard workplace sessions run 3 to 4 hours covering recognition, response, and basic tactical medical skills. Advanced programs for security personnel and leadership run 6 to 8 hours with scenario-based exercises in your facility. We customize the duration to your needs.

Do participants receive certification?

Yes. Participants receive a certificate of completion documenting the curriculum, date, and instructor credentials. Organizations receive a training report for compliance records. The TCCC medical component provides separate certification for participants who complete that module.

How much does active shooter training cost?

Costs depend on program length, group size, location, and whether you include the TCCC medical component. We offer group rates for organizations training multiple employees. Contact Safe 4 USA Security at (754) 544-1544 for a training proposal tailored to your organization.

Can you customize the training for our facility?

Yes, and we strongly recommend it. We conduct a pre-training assessment of your building, identify specific vulnerabilities and safe areas, and design scenarios using your actual floor plan. When your team trains in the space where they work, the response becomes instinctive rather than theoretical.

Do you offer follow-up or refresher training?

Yes. We recommend annual comprehensive training with shorter quarterly refreshers. We also offer tabletop exercises for leadership and rapid response drills that test protocols with minimal disruption. Follow-up sessions incorporate updated protocols and new staff.

Are there legal requirements for active shooter training in Florida?

Florida schools are required to conduct active assailant training under the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act. For other organizations, OSHA's General Duty Clause requires employers to provide a safe workplace. Many insurance providers and industry regulations now require or incentivize active threat preparedness. We can help you understand your specific compliance obligations.
